Tips for the Morning – How to Set Yourself up for a Productive Day!

tips-for-the-morning-1

I’m not much of a morning person, in fact I dread them. I’ve been working on doing things to my morning routine that gets me in gear for the day and add some positivity to my mornings.

I work a 9-5 job and I commute to work so I’m up early enough and anything that makes the morning go more smoothly I’m all for! A good morning also sets you up for the rest of the day.

Social Media

header-image-3As soon as your alarm goes off do you groggily turn to your phone and check your Facebook?

Many of us have the urge to reach for our phones as soon as we wake up and check our social media accounts or even our work emails.

Our willpower is actually highest in the morning and as the day goes on this tends to decline. If you start your off with social media, you’ll most likely spend a lot more time on it during the day, killing your productivity.

You will also feel more positive in the morning. You don’t know what you will come across while browsing your phone. Will it be Donald Trump, well being Donald Trump or the death of a celebrity? You don’t need that negativity first thing in the morning.

Drink a Glass of Warm Lemon Water

When we wake up our bodies are dehydrated after the night’s sleep. Drinking water alone will rehydrate you. But having lemon with warm water is known for enhancing your mood and clearing your mind. It can also help reduce anxiety and depression. I’ve been doing this for a few weeks now. Seriously try it!

Leave Yourself Enough Time

Waking up early and leaving yourself enough time to do all the necessary things like eating a good breakfast, showering and doing your hair/make up will ensure you’re not leaving the house feeling stressed.

If you’re rushing about the place to get things done quickly you’ll carry this state of mind with you for the day. It does mean less time snoozing in bed but it will be worth it!

Yoga/Meditation or Light Stretching

The time you’re not spending on the phone can be used to do some yoga. Adding this to a morning routine while listening to music will help relieve stress and induce those happy hormones!

Get Everything Ready the Night Before

Decide what you’re going to wear the next day before getting into bed and lay it out. For me mornings are already hard enough without having to make decisions, so that’s one less thing to worry about!

It also gives you plenty of time to find everything you need to put an amazing outfit together. It’s better than finding that something you need is in the wash or missing and then having to go through the process of thinking of an outfit all over again!
